How Not To Get an "A" in a Class
Professor asks for advice from messageboard on how to respond after receiving this email:
Hi,I was looking over my grades on mycourses and was wondering what the final assessment of my performance will be. I am expecting no less than an A in your class but from the current grade distribution, it seems that I am in a low B range. Will you be able to tell me my final grade? I'm anxious to know how everything turns out so that, if necessary, I can come to you to dispute any final decisions before I leave. Thanks.

I don't know how I would answer that, if I were in the teacher's shoes.

Decisions in Texas next week over school textbooks could change the way that science is taught in many US states.
"Holt, Rinehart & Winston has submitted a change that directs students to "study hypotheses for the origin of life that are alternatives" to the others in the book. Students also are encouraged to research alternative theories on the Internet."
